MySpace: A Vital Part of Any Teenage Life

You know how you can "friend" singers/bands on MySpace? Guess who I got a friend request from yesterday? And on the day after I wrote about how much I hated his song, too!

I just want to know how I got on the list of people to send friend requests to.

We Are The Winners (As Long As They Aren't)

I've heard all the Eurovision Song Contest songs for this year, and since I can't vote, I will rank them and write up some comments here. The format of each review will be as such:

Number. Country
Artist - "Song"
Reaction:I'll write what I think of the song. A few sentences, unless I am really passionate about it (like the UK).
Best Part:The best part/lyric of the song.
Rating: Out of 5

I'll do the bottom two today, and the next five every following Sunday.

37. United Kingdom
Daz Sampson - "Teenage Life"
Reaction: I explained in an earlier post how much I hate this guy's music. In case you missed it:I really really hate his music. I do like "Land Of The Rising Sun" by him with Spacekats, but that's about it. Last year we had Vanilla Ninja as an artist who had songs in music video games ("Tough Enough" was in Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 and In The Groove); why he has to be this year's music game representative, I don't know why. The only way to make it up is getting smile.dk next year.
But back to the song, it sucks. First of all, it's a cheesy rap ballad sung by a presumably thirty-something man about high school. After further listening, it resembles the song "Graduation" by Vitamin C, another cheesy song sung by a thirty-something-year-old about high school. And as someone who's graduating high school, I'm bracing myself for hearing that song all over the place - I'm glad that I don't live in Europe and thus have a much lower chance of hearing "Teenage Life" at a graduation party.
Best Part:"As we go on, we remember/all the times we had together"...oops, wrong song!
Rating: 1/5

36. Lithuania
LT United - "We Are The Winners"
Reaction:It's comedy, but not in the way Iceland's song is. It's kind of cynical and even a little angry. And it sounds like something that plays over the speaker during sports games. I imagine that this is not an inaccurate representation of the song's fans.
Best Part: The French part in the 2nd verse
Rating: 1/5

Exciting New Features!

You may notice that down at the bottom of the sidebar (really only halfway down the page), below the Blogger logo, is a little last.fm listing of the last ten songs I listened to on iTunes. Well, I just put it there so start noticing it. Now, I never use iTunes so it's going to be horribly inaccurate. That's why I'm starting the

BIG HIDDEN GEM GOOD MUSIC PROJECT!!!!!!!!! (tentative title)

In said project I am going to listen to every song on random on my mp3 player (a 20 GB Creative Zen Touch) without skipping anything, list all the songs that I must have skipped over previously and just now realized were good/worth listening to. Once I have a nice list I will make them available for download, one every Monday, in a great attempt to get more readers.

Also I will try my best to watch America's Next Top Model, since I have to have one show to follow (and American Idol is getting boring).

Everyone's Swedish on Melodifestivalen!

I want to apologize to the 1-3 readers for not updating, I was very busy looking like this.
Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day, a day where everyone wears green and gets drunk. They also said many times to me, "Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day!". That got me thinking. If a lot of not-Irish-at-all people can be Irish on that day, then I, who is not-Swedish-at-all, can be Swedish on the day of the Melodifestivalen finals, which is today. Apparently Carola is going to win or else fire will fall from the sky, but I think her song's just okay. I want BWO to win, because they have a really great song. Seriously, the only thing that would make it better is if an actual "DJ comes crashing from the heavens above" during that line. Because that would be completely over the top and thus amazing.

Congratulations Chloe!

Although the people of the UK made the wrong decision and somehow voted Daz Sampson the winner of Making Your Mind Up, the people at Bravo made the right decisions and Chloe Dao was made the winner of Project Runway, Season 2, or as I like to call it, ProRunS2. I must have been in the favor of the theatre gods yesterday because I got home from a dress rehearsal in time to see the finale.

I didn't like her final collection as much as the other three, but I thought she deserved to win because of overall outstanding work, and she would have gotten the most out of Banana Republic's help. I'm a little disappointed that I was right that Daniel is this season's Kara Saun, he's young and could use more experience. I hope to see more of both of them, as well as the other designers (heck, even Santino). Too bad it will all be too expensive for me to afford.

February '06 - What You May Have Missed

I'm not going to be posting much in the next week (or in the past week, for that matter) because I'm very, very busy - possibly the rest of March, too. It's out of my control, I just have things to do. So I promise in April I'll update lots of interesting things.

Here's a late WYMHM:

Overheard In New York - Actually, I didn't miss this one because my friend submitted it, and I was there.

And that's it. It's late and I'm tired.
