Pizza & Bratwurst
A lot has happened in the past two weeks of Eurovision, but this post will focus on the national finals in Norway and Sweden
In the biggest case of "copying last
year's winner", Norway's Erlend Bratland really really
resembles Conchita Wurst, although he does have a different, deeper voice (and no wig). His song “Thunderstruck” is a dramatic uptempo, the schlager of the night
I have no idea what was going on on
stage during Staysman & Lazz's performance of “En godt stekt
pizza,” but if it's about pizza it has to be good. The best part is
when the orchestra stands up and fist pumps. In any other year the
Eurovision fandom would tear this apart, since it's a bro joke (never
mind that it's a good one), but everyone's a little desperate for a
high BPM this year.
The biggest highlight of
the Melodifestivalen final in Sweden was Ylvis' interval act, where they were
joined by Lili and Susie to perform “Stonehenge.” But like that
night's winner, their song in 2009 was much better.
The third favorite in the
Swedish televote was “Guld och gröna skogar” by Hasse Andersson
, which attracted some controversy when it was uncovered that it was
the same song as “Tanabata Matsuri” by Tegomass. Not plagiarism –
the same song, by the same writers, and it even has similar lyrics
(reminiscing about a past summer). The only way to solve this problem
is to have Hasse join a Johnny's group, or have someone perform
“Seishun Amigo” in Melodifestivalen 2016.
