Woke Up This Way (Then Went Back To Sleep)
This week in Eurovision: higlights from Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Serbia, and Sweden.
Indie twee-ness in Estonia with Wilhelm and "Light up your mind"
"Mustelmat" by Siru was a big fan favorite in Finland but I don't see it.
In Hungary, Timi Antal misquotes the meme in "Woke Up This Way"
"Feathers" by SUNDAY would have brought the icy cool quirky electronic music
that people expect from Iceland outside of Eurovision.
The same goes for "Milljón Augnablik" by Haukur Heidar Hauksson but for indie earnestness. In an instrumental version it would make great video game music.
In Italy's San Remo Festival, Nina Zilli performed the bluesy "Sola"...can we have her back?
"Your Eyes" by Rihards Bērziņš in Latvia is a trendy kind of pop/EDM song.
Danica Krstic performed "Suze za kraj" in Serbia. In the style of (and by the composer of) "Molitva"/"Zavet"/"Verjamem" but not as good.
Marie Bergman and Sanne Salomonsen performed "Nonetheless" in Sweden with a soulful heart-aching feel.
Next week: semifinals in Austria, Hungary, and Sweden. Finals in Estonia, Finland, and Latvia!
