Don't Say No

This week in Eurovision: songs from Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Moldova, Slovenia, and Sweden.

In Finland, "Heart of Light" by Opera Skaala is fabulous in a way only an Eurovision fan could love, a sparkling mix of opera and dance.

In Hungary, "Fire" by Ív had a cool outfit and powerful drums. There's not much to say about the songs in the Hungarian final, so "nice lipstick" stands out.

"Break Me Up" by Erika Selin in Ireland's final was not Irish at all. With Swedish songwriters and singer, it was so Timoteij that they were Erika's backing singers.

On the very Irish side is "Anybody Got A Shoulder" by Kat Mahon. A sad ballad about...sadness, it could have lit up the scoreboard in another time.

Moldova made a poor decision not to let Sunstroke Project back into Eurovision with their song "Day after day" with DJ Michael Ra. It's no "Run Away" but the sax solo is pretty hot.

My favorite song from Slovenia was "Šaltinka" by Rudi Bučar, but I can't find a clip on YouTube. Everything else was pretty mediocre pop, so let's have a traditional dance party!

In Sweden, Midnight Boy performed 80's throwback "Don't Say No." It's very Dead or Alive, which is still a hit at parties, so I encourage everyone to add this to their next party playlist. Love the mannequins in the performance, but the voguing dancers didn't really fit.

Next week will have finals in Germany, Greece, Portugal, and Romania.
